What Happens If Your Immigration Application Is Delayed?
What can you do if your application is delayed?
First, upon receipt of your application, USCIS should send a receipt notice. This notice will have a receipt numberon the top left hand corner. Generally, the receipt number will start with three letters followed by a series of numbers. This is the receipt number you will use to track your case. (IOE—-----).
If your application is taking longer than you think:
First, visit the USCIS processing times page and select the form you’ve filled. If the case is within processing time, then patience may be necessary.
Second, track your case online using your receipt number. (your Receipt # is the number on the top left corner and starts with three letters.)
If it is outside of processing times, then there are a few other options:
Submit a case inquiry with USCIS
a. Go to the case inquiry link and under “check case processing,” click “submit case inquiry.”
b. You will need to submit your receipt number, the date the form was filed, the form number and the form sub-type.
